No more “someday” fitness goals. No more “maybe later” savings plans.

I didn’t want to build a product for fitness junkies or finance-savvy pros—I built Steps Forward for regular people who just want to feel a little better and save a little more. People who’d rather skip the overwhelm and start with something doable.

The idea was simple: what if small, everyday choices—like making coffee at home or walking instead of Ubering—could quietly build toward real results? I created an app that tracks these micro-habits and shows users how their actions compound over time, both in calories burned and dollars saved.

I brought the whole project to life from scratch, coding it entirely with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. From the logic behind daily habit tracking to the interactive progress bars and clean interface, every element was hand-built to feel lightweight, motivating, and real.

The Problem Is Real – and Massive

Nearly 3 in 4 U.S. adults are overweight or have obesity, with the average person aiming to lose 29 pounds.

81% believe losing weight would save them money on daily expenses.

Only 41% of Americans can cover a $1,000 emergency expense from savings; 27% have no emergency savings at all.

53% of Americans are actively trying to save money in 2025, yet many struggle with inconsistent habits and lack of tools.

The Opportunity

People are tired of juggling multiple apps, plans, and hacks that don’t stick. They want something simple, motivating, and effective.

Steps Forward combines fitness and finance into one habit- building system — designed for real people, not perfectionists.

Why not?

77% of Americans are open to trying new weight loss methods.

35% prioritize saving money and paying down debt simultaneously.

This is about building real habits that stack up — one choice, one day at a time.
