I began with a deep dive into the fitness app market to understand where Punchlab stood—and where it was falling behind. In a space that’s rapidly evolving, it was clear that without integrating AI, the app risked getting knocked out of the game. While I didn’t redesign the logo or core branding, I focused on transforming the product experience to make it feel like a real coach was right there with you.

I introduced a customizable AI coach that adapts to your energy, time, and goals—replicating the motivation and structure you'd get in a boxing gym. I also redesigned the workout flow, added a dynamic leaderboard for accountability, and streamlined the UI to feel more intuitive and motivating. The result? A smarter, more engaging app experience built to keep users moving, improving, and coming back.

Smart Workout Customization & AI-Powered Suggestions

Goal: Allow Jim to quickly find the right workout based on personal preferences, skill level, and available time.

  • Open the app → Navigate to the new “Smart Workout” tab.
  • Select preferences → Choose difficulty, duration, and focus area (power, speed, endurance).
  • AI-Powered Suggestions → The app generates a personalized workout plan based on past workouts and user goals.
  • Preview & Customize → View key moves, and modify round and rest times.
  • Start Workout → Engage in a tailored, dynamic session that adapts over time based on user performance.

AI Customized Coach

Goal: Allow Sarah to tailor her AI coach’s personality, encouragement style, and motivation level to create a more personalized and engaging workout experience.

  • Open the app → Navigate to the “Meet Coach” tab.
  • Select preferences → Choose engagement, voice, and approach (chill, playful, brutal, etc).
  • AI-Powered Approach  → The app generates a personalized coaching approach based on the data collected from your audio responses.
  • Start Workout →  Train with a coach that truly gets you, adapting to your style, motivation, and performance over time.

Interactive Leaderboard & Social Challenges

Goal: Increase motivation and engagement through social competition and community-driven workouts.

  • Navigate to the “Challenges” tab → Join a weekly leaderboard based on metrics like punches thrown, time spent, or combos completed.
  • Create or Join Challenges → Users can invite friends or the broader community to compete in personalized training goals (e.g., “1000 Punches in a Week”).
  • Track Progress → Users receive real-time updates on their ranking, with milestone badges for achieving streaks.
  • Challenge Completion & Rewards → Users earn badges that unlock exclusive content or advanced drills.
